The pics above are just A FEW of the bills I've received in the mail! Take a good look at these. They look so legit!:
A few months back, I got a call from the most personable and loving woman who worked for a company called Datasphere Technologies. She told me she had heard about my product through a friend and couldn't wait to buy one herself being a new mom to an infant. She offered me the opportunity to be on the FRONT page in a beautiful AD for familycircle.com, parents.com, and parenting.com. Altogether, she told me those pages reach over 33 million monthly views! She was going to offer me 1 of 3 spots she had for new lucky brands they thought would do amazing on those sites at a very low price. She made it seem like it was a prize that we won and that we were getting it for a fraction of the price.
GUYS, after my web designer looked into it, he let me know immediately that it was a scam. After just two weeks of signing on, I tried to cancel. I e-mailed. I called. I left messages. I did everything. All I got was an email back each week that stated they are under staffed but I had a ticket #. All my complaints in email and recorded messages via phone didn't stop them from charging my credit card every month...for 3 months!!!
After threatening to report them to the BBB [Better Business Bureau] they told me they were going to go ahead and cancel my 8 month contract. [WTF!? I never signed an 8 month contract lol!] I was pleased to hear that, but also shocked....they also credited my credit card for one of the months which I was pleased with since I knew I didn't have to deal with them again. I demanded they send me an email with all of this in writing. I even told them I would wait on the phone until I got the email. I received it.
Moral of the story:
Before signing up or paying for anything, ANYTHING, google them and check their reviews. I learned the hard way. As a new business owner, I am already competing against the corporations who have hundreds and thousands of staff members and a legal team on a retainer. To think that these fraudulent companies prey on hard working, financially struggling family business just really grinds my gears! The time that I could be taking to build my company, I end up having to fight back against these crooks! I have no idea how they sleep at night!
